Living your best life with braces

A few simple habits keep your braces working smoothly and your smile healthy. Here is what to know day to day.

Eating with braces

In the first few days after braces are placed or adjusted, stick to softer foods while your mouth adjusts. After that, most foods are fine with a little care. It helps to avoid very hard, crunchy, or sticky foods that can damage brackets and wires.

Keeping things clean

Brushing and flossing matter even more with braces. Brush gently after meals and clean carefully around the brackets and wires. We will show you the techniques and tools that make this easy.

Soreness and comfort

It is normal to feel some tenderness after an adjustment. It usually passes within a few days. If a wire is poking or something does not feel right, call the office at (561) 566-7111 and we will help. For more guidance, see our post-op resources.
